Baron-- Baron is a chihuahua mix who weighs about 15 pounds and is estimated to be about 2 years old. He was found in the middle of a very busy road by one of our volunteers. The neighbors said he and another dog, Ella, had been seen roaming around for 2 weeks. There was a third dog, but unfortunately he was hit by a car according to the neighbors. We couldn't stand to think of that happening to Baron or Ella. He is a little shy at first but once he knows you he will follow you all around and climb onto your lap to give kisses. Baron is up to date on his shots and will be neutered soon. Baron probably hasn't know the luxury of a warm bed and good food. Can you be that home who won't give up on him.

McGruff-- Meet McGruff –Bloodhound mix, approx 4-5 years old. Weighs approx 45-50 lbs. He is UTD onall his shots and neutered. He came to us from Arlington Animal Shelter when a group ofpeople knew that he was going to be put to sleep. They transported him to usfrom Arlingtonand brought him to our 2nd Chance Ranch. He is a very gentle boy,gets along great with other dogs. Not hyper at all, very low key and lowmaintenance. Kennel trained and obeys very well. He is ready for his “forever”home. Please consider this gentle, mild mannered bloodhound.

Jack Black-- Meet Jack Black - Min Pin, approx 2 years old. Weighs 10 lbs, UTD on all shots, scheduled to be neutered. His family fell on very hard times, evicted from their home and he was left behind to fend for himself along with others. Dakota Rescue was contacted and knowing the situation we had to rescue him. He gets along great with other dogs, kennel trained and appears to be house broken. He loves to be held and laying next to you. He is currently staying at our 2nd Chance Ranch patiently waiting for his "forever" home.

Girlie-- Meet Girlie - Labrador mix, approx 1 1/2 years old, weighs 30 lbs. UTD on all shots, is scheduled to get spayed. She was rescued by Deborah, Pet Minister. She had seen her for a few months living on the streets. When Deborah was able to earn her trust she rescued this sweet girl off the streets. She contacted Dakota Rescue and asked if we could take her into our program. We did knowing that Deborah was not able to keep her. Not long afterwards we discovered she was pregnant. Wasn't much longer that she gave birth to 9 precious puppies. Girlie was an excellent mom giving her pups the love and care they needed and have all been adopted. Girlie has now fully recovered, the sweetest girl ever. Gets along great with other dogs and knowing her personality we know she will do good around cats and small kids. Please consider giving her the forever home she deserves.

Bear-- Meet Bear – GoldenRetriever mix, approx 2 years old and weighs 40 – 45 lbs. He is up to date on all his shots and is neutered. He was found by a group of people when he appeared in their subdivision. They searched and searched for his owner but were never found. He gets along great with other dogs, people and kids. Loves to play. He is currently staying atour 2nd Chance Ranch until we can find him his “forever”home.

Apache-- Meet Apache - Doxie (Dapple) approx 1 year old, weighs 10 lbs, UTD on all shots, scheduled to be neutered. Abby-- Meet Abby - German Shorthaired Pointer mix, 4 years old, weighs 45 lbs. She is UTD on all her shots, spayed, and HW neg. She was picked up by BARC as a stray. Her time was up so emails went out asking rescue groups if anyone could take her. We kept receiving emails and realized that she wasn't going to be pulled Dakota Rescue put a Hold on her. She is absolutely the sweetest girl ever. She gets along great with other dogs, kids, kennel trained and loves to please. She is currently staying at our 2nd Chance Ranch patiently waiting for her "forever" home. Look at that face who can resist those eyes. Please consider being her "forever" family.

Dixie-- Meet Dixie- Dixie is an Aussie mix, about 3 years old, weighs 45 pounds, is up to date on all her shots and is absolutely gorgeous. Her owners fell on hard times and their house was foreclosed on and Dixie and her 3 brothers were left behind. Dakota Rescue was contacted and asked to save them. Dixie really is the perfect dog, she is calm, housebroken, crate trained, gets along well with dogs and kids. She is doing wonderful in her foster home and will easily fit in at any house. She is very loving and enjoys having her belly rubbed. Dixie walks well on a leash and we just know she will walk right into your heart! She is waiting patiently for her forever home.

Emma-- Meet Emma- Emma is looking for a foster or even better a forever home. Emma is a 4 month old long haired dachshund/cocker spaniel mix. A kind man stopped and picked her up when he saw he shaking on the side of the road on a freezing cold night. He then brought her to us in hopes that we would accept her into our program because he didn't want to take her to the shelter. We are so glad he did, she has the cutest little face and everyone who meets her loves her. She gets along with other dogs and people. She is a spunky little girl who loves to play and be around people. She is doing great with housebreaking and listens when you call her. She does bark some when left alone, but we think she just needs to learn that she isn't going to be left again and that she is safe now. Bonesy-- Meet Bonesy- Bonesy is an adorable chihuahua who only weighs about 7 pounds and is approximately 4 years old. He was rescued from Alvin Animal control when his time was up. The Animal control officer reached out to Dakota to save Bonesy because he was such a sweetheart. He is fully vetted, up to date on his shots and neutered. He is currently in foster care while he waits for his forever home. He gets along well with other dogs and he doesn't mind cats and kids. He is a very mild tempered dog and very rarely barks. Riley (Bassett)-- Meet Riley –Basset Hound (tri color), approx 3-4 years old, weighs btw 40-45 lbs. UTD onall shots, neutered and microchipped. He was found on Riley Fuzzel Rd around 2 am just walkingaround. Fortunately a very kind lady saw him and knew she had to rescue himotherwise he mind end up being hit by a car. His pictures do not do himjustice. He is a beautiful basset boy, very affectionate and loves to snuggleas all bassets enjoy. He is housebroken, kennel trained, loves to play withother dogs but wouldn’t mind being the only child. Whoever lost this boyshame on them for not looking for him, didn’t have a collar on him so notag. He is currently staying at our 2nd Chance Ranch. Come andmeet Riley, you will fall in love with him just like we all have at the Ranch.

Joey-- Meet Joey –Basset Hound, approx 3 – 4 years old, weighs 35 lbs. UTD on all hisshots, neutered and is microchipped. He was found as a stray, taken to a killshelter and his time was up. His picture was networked and networked askingfor someone to please save his life. We were full but could not stand thethought of him being put to sleep due to irresponsible pet owners. He is abeautiful basset boy, loves to play with other dogs but he too could be an onlychild. Housebroken, kennel trained, loves to snuggle or lay on a doggy bed andsnooze. He is currently living at our 2nd Chance Ranch just waitingfor a family to come and adopt him and give him his “forever” home.

Harley-- Meet Harley –Harley is a dachshund mix who weighs about 20 pounds and has the shinest black fur. He loves to play and chase. Harley is excellent with other dogs, loves to play with kids, is very loving and affectionate. He is very smart and could definitely learn tricks when given training. Harley would love a home with another dog or an active family to play with him. He is currently in foster care waiting for his forever home. Milo- Meet Milo - Terrier mix, about 1 year old, weighs approx. 15 lbs. Milo is a loving boy, but would do best in a home without small children. He seems to be afraid of them and will bark at them. This may be because he had a bad experience in his past. He is very loving once he feels comfortable. Milo is up to date on all his shots, neutered, and crate trained. He is currently staying at our Second Chance Ranch waiting for his forever home.

Beaker--Meet Beaker- Beaker is an adorable chihuahua with the neatest markings. He is all white with tiny light tan spots all over and brown ears. He was found wandering in a subdivision's park with his 4 puppies. The mother dog was no where to be found. Beaker had done a great job taking care of his puppies and when someone stopped their car to keep them out of the road all 5 of them ran over to the car. They were so happy to see people and to be safe. All of Beaker's puppies have been adopted and he is now patiently waiting for his chance at a forever home. Beaker becomes very attached to his person quickly and will follow you all around. He is definitely a lap dog and is never farther than a couple inches from his foster mom. He gets along well with other dogs once he feels comfortable. He just doesn't like when they get too close to his person. He doesn't mind cats and is getting along great with the human baby at his foster home. Beaker will do great as long as he is loved. Can you give Beaker the love he deserves?

Phantom--Meet Phantom- Phantom is a very handsome male cat about 1 year old. He has the very interesting markings and soft, long hair. He is a little shy but has already warmed up to the Dakota volunteers that visit him at Petco. You can visit Phantom and our other cats at Petco, our adoption partner. Phantom love to lay in his bed and would love a home to call his own.

Pace--Meet Pace – Labrador (Chocolate), weighs approx 50 lbs, 6 years old. UTD on all his shots, neutered and microchipped. He too came to Dakota Rescue with Chewy. His family adopted him from a shelter when he was 3 years old. Since they got transferred overseas they reached out to us. Pace is a great, great dog. Gets along great with other dogs, cats and kids. He is very well behaved, calm, quiet dog. Minds very well, housebroken, kennel trained, knows commands. He was scared in the beginning since his whole world had been turned upside down but has adjusted very well. Everyone at our 2nd Chance Ranch love Pace. Please be that "forever" family for him.

Barney--Meet Barney – Basset Hound, weighs 50 lbs, approx 8 years old. He is a senior basset and needs a "forever" home. Poor baby his owner said he did not have time for him anymore and just needed to give him up. He came to us with his younger brother Frank but he found a home. Barney is a GREAT basset boy. He is housebroken, kennel trained, minds very well. Gets along very well with other dogs. He is currently staying at our 2nd Chance Ranch patiently waiting for his "forever" family. Senior bassets make the best pets, they are so loyal, calm and quiet. Please consider giving this Senior boy a "forever" home so that he will live his remaining years knowing love and a family.

Allie--Meet Allie – Basset Hound, weighs 40 lbs, approx 5 years old. She is UTD on all her shots and is spayed. We rescued Allie from MCAS before she was scheduled to be put to sleep. Her previous owner was sick and couldn't care for her anymore. He took her to a shelter thinking he was doing the right thing. She is a great basset girl, gets along with other dogs. Like all bassets she is a love bug. Loves to be petted and give kisses. She minds very well, kennel trained and housebroken. She is a very calm dog, loves laying on a doggy bed. Reba--Meet Reba- Reba is a gorgeous black kitten who is about 9 months old. She is a sweet, fun loving girl who loves people and other animals. She was found abandoned and a nice person brought her to Dakota Rescue to ask if we could help find her a home. She is a really nice cat who just wants to be in a home of her own. She is up to date on all her shots and has been spayed. Please consider giving Reba her forever home.

Pacino--Pacino is a boxer mix who was a last minute save from BARC. He had won over the hearts of the BARC volunteers and they sent out pleas for his safety. Dakota Rescue saw the pleas and decided that he deserved a second chance. He is a loving, big boy who craves attention. He walks well on a leash and play well with other dogs. He would love to have a home to begin his second chance at life.

Legs--Meet Legs – Pug mix, approx 2-3 years old, weighs less than 20 lbs. UTD on all his shots and is neutered. He too was found as a stray with his lady friend Shorty. He loves to play with other dogs, kennel trained and will go right in when you ask him to, such a cuddler. He is currently staying at our 2nd Chance Ranch waiting for someone to give him his "forever" home.

Buddy--Meet Buddy – Lab/Rottie mix, approx 1 year old, weighs approx 30-35 lbs. He was pulled from MCAS when his time was up. UTD on all his shots, is scheduled to get neutered on Aug 3rd. Maggie-- Meet Maggie, a pure bred Basset Hound who is 8 years old. She is up to date on all of her shots and has been spayed. She came from a neglected home and it is unbelievable the environment she lived in along with a collie. It's like the what you see on Animal Cops. We were shown the pictures but they are too graphic to be shown on our web site. She is currently in foster care and has adapted very well. She is very affectionate, calm and quiet. She is housebroken and gets along great with other dogs and children. Please consider giving this older girl a home so she can live in a loving, clean home environment.

Lady--Meet Lady - a 3 year old female Chihuahua Terrier mix. Her owner couldn't care for her anymore and so Lady found her way to an animal shelter. Her time was up and they contacted Dakota Rescue to see if we could save her. She is current on her vaccinations and has been spayed. She is also housebroken, crate trained, and loves to play with other dogs. This little girl is full of life and just wants to be with someone. She gets along with kids of all ages and loves to snuggle once she has finished playing. She has the sweetest, little face and truly looks like a little Lady. Cali-Meet Cali – Labrador Retriever (Black) mix – approx 3 years old, weighs 55 lbs. UTD on all her shots and is spayed. She came to us from BARC, same story with so many of our rescues, found as a stray. Cali gets along great with other dogs, kennel trained, very sweet and just patiently waiting for her "FOREVER" home. She is staying at our 2nd Chance Ranch where she has blossomed and just waiting for a family to find her.

Deuce--Meet Deuce – Basset Hound (Senior) 8 years old, UTD on all his shots, neutered. He came to us from a backyard breeder. When Deuce was not producing for them anymore they dumped him at the kill shelter in Huntsville. They contacted Dakota Rescue asking if we could take him. If not, due to his age he would be put to sleep in 3 days. We couldn't allow this to happen knowing that he has some good senior years left in him. He gets along with other dogs, prefers females. Low key, not hyper, kennel trained and just loves laying on a doggy bed. He is currently staying at our 2nd Chance Ranch hoping that someone will come along who wants a senior basset boy.

Candy-- Meet Candy – Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, approx 1-2 years old, weighs between 25-30 lbs. UTD on all her shots and is scheduled to be spayed the week of Jan 31st. She was turned into MCAS as a stray. Her owners never came forward to claim her, her time was up and was scheduled to be put to sleep. MCAS reached out to Dakota Rescue and asked us to please save this girl. We saw her picture and couldn't stand the thought of her being put to sleep. She is a great girl, loves to play with other dogs. Can be a bit shy at first but once she warms up to you she's a great girl. Kennel trained and currently staying at our 2nd Chance Ranch until her "forever" family finds her.

Bessie-- Meet Bessie – Basset Hound (senior) approx 50 lbs, close to 7-8 years old. She was found as a stray and was taken in by a family. They lived in an apartment that didn't allow dogs and couldn't keep her. They reached out to other organizations but everyone was full. Knowing that if they took her to a shelter due to her age she would be put to sleep. Dakota Rescue decided to take her. She is an absolute love, low maintenance, gets along great with other dogs. Kennel trained and would love nothing more than to lay on a doggy bed. Most families don't want to adopt a senior but promise you she is a sweetheart and will love her. She still has lots of good years left to enjoy life and to give and receive love. Please consider Bessie.

Lucille-Meet Lucille – Basset Hound, 8 years old, weighs 60 lbs. She is UTD on all her shots and spayed. She was an owner surrender, they had her since she was 6 weeks old and decided they couldn't keep her any longer. They have a 3 year old son and their son was not taught how to respect a dog. He was allowed to jump on her, pull her ears and get in her face and scream! Of course this made Lucille nervous so the dad decided they had to give her away. The mom contacted Dakota Rescue and asked if we could please take her since she was having to spend 24/7 inside her kennel. We couldn't allow this girl to be treated this way any longer. Lucille is currently staying at our 2nd Chance Ranch and has fitted in very nicely. She gets along great with other dogs, kennel trained, very quiet, very calm. Has lots of love in her to give. Please consider giving this "special" girl her forever home.

Rocky--Meet Rocky – Labrador mix, approx 10 months old, UTD on all shots, neutered. We rescued him and his siblings when they were 6 weeks old. All were adopted including Rocky who at the time was named Rusty. His family got transferred due to work and didn't feel they could take Rocky with them. Sad for Rocky since he has been with them since he was 6 weeks old. They asked if we would take him back, if not, they were going to take to a shelter. Joey-Meet Joey- Black Mouth Curr Puppy about 9 months old and weighs about 30 pounds. Joey was saved with many other dogs from Deer Park Animal Shelter. He is a very sweet, loveable boy who has the sweetest face with a black nose! He loves to play, is crate trained, and up to date on all of his shots. He has been waiting patiently and would love to have a home and a family to play with. Could you be that home for Joey?

Tanner--Meet Tanner - Basset Hound mix, approx 6-8 months old, weighs approx 25-30
lbs. UTD on all his shots and is neutered. He and his brother were at the
Bay City animal shelter, they were picked up as strays. All alone, they
were hungry, thirsty and scared. Their time was up when they reached out to
us asking if we could take them into our program. He gets along great with
other dogs, affectionate and loving. Just patiently waiting for his forever
home.

Louise-- Meet Louise - Heeler mix, about 1 year old. She was found along with her sister in the middle of the highway. Fortunately a very kind person stopped and rescued them before they were hit by a car. This person reached out to many rescue organizations for help but no one could take them in,everyone is full right now with rescues. Dakota Rescue was at an Adoption day at PETCO and she brought them to us. We are also full but couldn't say no to these girls. They are currently living at our Second Chance Ranch. She is up to date on all her shots and is spayed. Please consider giving Louise her forever home.

Lucky--Meet Lucky - Bloodhound/Dalmation mix - male, white & brown, approx 2 years
old. UTD on all shots and neutered. Weighs approx 40-45 lbs. Was found as
a stray in the Conroe area. Taken to MCAS where he was going to be put to
sleep. They contacted Dakota Rescue and asked if we could save his life, we
did and is currently staying at our Second Chance Ranch. Great dog, loves affection
and gets along great with other dogs. Please give Lucky the forever home he
deserves.

Peanut--Meet Peanut – She is a Chihuahua and is 6 years old. She is up to date on all her shots and is spayed. She was surrendered to MCAS by the landlord when an elderly lady passed away. She is not a high energy dog, so she needs a home with not any kids and not a lot of other dogs. She would really love being the only dog. She is missing some of her teeth but it doesn’t stop her from eating regular dog food. She is absolutely a wonderful girl and will captivate you with her big brown eyes. She is currently in foster care patiently waiting for her forever home.

Layla Marie--Meet Layla Maria– Chihuahua/Whippet mix, 3 years old. She was rescued from MCAS before her time was up. UTD on all of her shots and is spayed. Housebroken, great with other dogs, cats and kids. Very affectionate and very sweet girl. On her picture looks like something may be wrong with her eye but no it’s fine, just the picture. She is currently in foster care just waiting for her forever home.

Earl--Earl is a Tree Walker Coon Hound – senior boy (10 years old). He too was turned into MCAS as a senior(what a shame). He is neutered and up to date on all shots. He is a great dog for someone who wants to let him live out his senior years. He loves to lay around on his doggy bed but acts like a puppy when it comes time for feeding time.Earl gets along great with other dogs and cats. He too is in foster care and is just waiting for that family who would like to adopt him.

Charlie (Chachi)--Charlie is a male Chihuhua. He is a very sweet boy and would love to be a lap dog. He gets along well with other dogs and would enjoy having a playmate in his new home. He is not so sure if he wants to be friends with cats, so he may do best in a home without cats. He enjoys running around and playing with his rope and chew toys. Charlie is up to date on all of his shots. He is currently in boarding and would love a foster home and better yet would love to have a home to call his own.

Buddy--Meet Buddy- He is approximately 10 months old, up to date on all shots and neutered. He gets along with cats, dogs and kids. He too was rescued from Montgomery County Animal Shelter. His foster is working on getting him completely housebroken and he's learning quick. He is still a puppy, so he needs to have his chew toys and loves to play and play. He enjoys being outside playing unless it's too hot. Buddy has lots of life ahead of him and would love to share it with you. Can you be that home for Buddy?

Nikki-Nikki-Whippet mix, approx 1 year old, weighs less than 20 - 25 lbs.
UTD on all of her shots, has been spayed and has a clean bill of health.
Dakota Rescue was contacted since her time was up at the Animal Shelter in
Alvin. After looking at her picture and seeing her sweet face there was no
way we could turn our backs on her. She is very sweet and responds very well to kids. Currently in boarding
and so much wants her forever home. Please find it in your heart to give
this sweet girl a home.

Buster Brown- Golden Retreiver mix, approximately 2 years old, weighs 45 lbs. Up to date on all his shots and has been neutered. He was found roaming around the Northside area. Neighbors knew who he belonged to and kept returning him home but owners were not responsible. They just allowed him to roam the streets was seen almost getting hit by a car numerous times. Finally the owners told neighbors that they did not want him anymore were going to take him to the pound. They contacted us and asked if we could take him. We took him in and now need to find him his forever home. He gets along great with other dogs, kennel trained, housebroken. Please consider Buster Brown and give him his forever home.
